Client | Alberta Justice, Civil Law Division |
Project Type | Survey research |
Timeframe | 1999 to 2000 |
In 1997, the federal government changed child support guidelines and provided financial assistance to the provinces to support the implementation of the new regulations. In response, the Alberta government developed the Court of Queen?s Bench Child Support Centre in Calgary and Edmonton. The mandate of these Centres was to assist in the consistent application of guidelines; to ensure individuals were provided with the opportunity for legal representation; and, to improve the efficiency of the legal process.
Alberta Justice, Civil Law Division, retained Praxis to conduct a program evaluation and to determine the level of service satisfaction among clients of the Child Support Centres. To accomplish this, Praxis administered a self-report survey to Queen’s Bench Justices, a mail out survey to Family Law Bar members, and conducted a random sample public telephone survey. Based on the data gathered, Praxis’ analysts measured the level of customer satisfaction; identified impacts and unintended consequences; and drafted recommendations for program improvement.
