Survey and Market Research
Project Name | Canadian Cancer Society: Informal Caregivers' Support Services and Programs Study |
---|---|
Client | Canadian Cancer Society, Alberta/Northwest Territories |
Project Type | Survey research |
Timeframe | 2007 to 2008 |
Praxis Research completed a major research project for the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) on support services and programs for informal caregivers of non-institutionalized cancer and palliative care patients. Historically, support services in cancer care have been focused on meeting the needs of cancer patients; however, an increase in at-home care of cancer patients has led the CCS to establish a new strategic directional support for informal caregivers.
To help the CCS understand and target effective services, Praxis conducted an extensive literature review; web scan of programs and services; inventory of agencies’ present services; focus groups with caregivers; key informant interviews; and a random telephone survey of caregivers. The CCS is acting on the recommendations resulting from Praxis’ comprehensive and well-received report.
