Parks Canada hired Praxis Research to administer its Visitor Information Program study. Praxis Research designed the study to gather information about the visitors to national parks and national historic sites, as well as those visiting venues on a regular basis. These studies provided ongoing measurement of the quality of programs and services offered in order to assess their quality and appropriateness for visitor needs.

The objectives of the research were multi-fold. They included measuring key visitor information required for business and management planning and reporting; determining levels of satisfaction with a variety of visitation aspects; ascertaining levels of participation at various facilities, services, and programs; measuring the extent to which specific aspects of national significance are conveyed; compiling a socio-demographic profile of visitors, including visitation history; and addressing a variety of location specific information needs.

Scan-readable paper surveys were distributed to visitors who completed them on site or mailed them back to Praxis. Praxis Research then analyzed the data and prepared the final reports.
