Socio-economic Impact Assessment
Project Name | Spring Creek Mountain Village Area Redevelopment Plan: SEIA |
---|---|
Client | Frank Kernick, Canmore Alberta |
Project Type | SIA-SEIA |
Timeframe | 2003 |
Praxis conducted the socio-economic assessments of the Spring Creek Mountain Village (Formerly Restwell Trailer Park) in Canmore, Alberta. This was one of the only and most extensive assessments of its kind undertaken on a major urban redevelopment in Canada. The redevelopment looked at the development of over 1500 new housing units on the 645-acre site over a staged, 20 year period.
Praxis developed an innovative process to permit the residents, occupying 220 units of manufactured homes on the site, a 15-year time frame to consider their options. The plan permitted residents to remain in their homes on-site and were given the first right of refusal to buy or rent new housing units once these were completed.
Praxis used a number of consultation and assessment tools throughout the process including open houses, display panels, brochures, computer database, hard copy surveys, as well as quantitative and qualitative analysis.
