---|---|
Client | Intergroup Consultants Ltd. |
Project Type | SIA-SEIA |
Timeframe | 2006 |
The Wuskwatim Generation Project involved the development of a 200-megawatt generating station at Taskinigup Falls. The project involved building an associated access road, construction camp, and other infrastructure. This project represents a unique working relationship between a Crown corporation (Manitoba Hydro) and a First Nation, (Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation). As project proponents, these two parties jointly undertook engineering, environmental and consultation activities.
Given the joint nature of the projects and the complex regulatory environment, Praxis was commissioned to undertake a high-level review of the socio-economic impact assessment, including the public consultation process for the Wuskwatim Generation Project.
Following a review of project-related reports and documents, Praxis prepared a report focusing on key areas of strength, areas for methodological clarification, and potential areas for improvement.
