Client
Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development
Project Type
Provincial Government
Timeframe
2013 to 2013

In February, 2013, AESRD contracted Praxis to plan and execute a province-wide public and stakeholder engagement process to explore future government direction in four priority areas related to water (healthy lakes, hydraulic fracturing and water, drinking water and wastewater systems, and water management).  Praxis designed the process, prepared support materials, and was responsible for all logistics.  In total, 18 public sessions, 11 stakeholder and 10 Aboriginal sessions were conducted in 18 locations across the province.  A modified World Café process was used for both the public and stakeholder sessions. Each venue had four discussion tables representing each of the four priority areas and participants were divided equally among the tables.  Topic facilitators from Praxis stationed at each table lead a 30-minute discussion following a standardized facilitators’ guide.  A Praxis recorder at each table summarized the proceedings.  After 30 minutes, participants moved to a new discussion table and the process was repeated until all participants had circulated through the four discussion tables.  Praxis prepared and submitted individual summary reports for each topic area for each session (a total of 116 summary reports).
