Project Name | Alberta Environment: Evolving to Cumulative Effects Management |
---|---|
Client | Alberta Environment |
Project Type | Report Writing |
Timeframe | 2008 |
Alberta Environment contracted Praxis to develop a manual providing an overview of Alberta Environment’s current understanding of Cumulative Effects Management (CEM). The target audience are those with an interest in the CEM approach but who may not have an in-depth understanding of the concepts and processes. The information in this manual will also assist anyone currently transitioning to the CEM approach.
In preparing this manual, Praxis adapted information from the Sustainable Resource and Environmental Management Information Kit developed by staff in the Southern Region of Alberta Environment. This manual provides an overview of the CEM approach including the ongoing evolution from a project-specific focus to one that considers a range of environmental media; resource sectors and activities; and environmental, economic and social factors. Through a step-by-step approach, this document overviews each element of the CEM approach and provides relevant case examples from the Bow River Basin.
