Public and Stakeholder Consultation
Project Name | Parks Canada: Jasper, Kootenay, Waterton Lakes and Yoho National Parks Management Plan Public Consultations |
---|---|
Client | Parks Canada |
Project Type | Federal Government |
Timeframe | 1997 to 2000 |
Praxis undertook the planning and delivery of public consultation programs for Parks Canada’s Management Plan Concepts, which included the Jasper, Kootenay, Wateron Lakes and Yoho National Parks. A far-reaching public consultation process was one component of a multi-faceted approach to developing new management plans for each of the four national parks.
Initially, Praxis designed and produced plan concept documents, response forms, and an array of display materials for the consultations. In addition to creating 43 full-colour display panels, Praxis prepared and mailed out packages containing the concept plans and response forms to 4,000 individuals and organizations, and was responsible for advertising the open houses. Further, Praxis organized ten open houses, which it conducted in conjunction with Parks Canada managers and staff.
Praxis also analyzed the public and stakeholder responses from all stages of the consultations, and generated a summary report of the findings. In the final stage, Praxis prepared the “What We Heard” document that was mailed out to participants. All materials in the process were produced in both French and English to meet national consultation requirements.
