Shell Canada-Grosmont Venture (formerly SURE Northern Energy) explored the feasibility of heavy oil extraction in north-central Alberta. Shell Canada contracted Praxis to design and implement a comprehensive consultation and engagement program.

The first stage of the program involved a scan of public and social issues to identify key topics and trends associated with energy exploration and development. Second, the Praxis Team assisted with planning, organizing and executing consultations with regional First Nations stakeholders and other key stakeholders in the area under review. The third stage focused on consultations with senior government and regulatory agency representatives.

Praxis also conducted a survey of local businesses to identify potential project-related employment opportunities for the affected communities.
