Project Type

Timeframe

For this eighteen-month project Praxis developed a overall strategy for the “visioning” process and implemented a three-stage public consultation for the BC Forest Resources Commission. The first stage involved a major newspaper ad campaign in 177 newspapers across BC seeking input; this led to receipt of 1,700 written submissions. Praxis completed all logistic requirements, developed background briefing books for the Commissioners and completed all camera-ready art work for the two rounds of media advertising.

In stage two, Praxis coordinated public meetings in 22 communities as well as the production and distribution of an Options Paper to over 22,000 participants. Stage three consisted of seven regional stakeholder workshops focused on reviewing the Options Paper. Provincial, regional, municipal and First Nations governments, as well as environmental, Aboriginal, industry and business stakeholders were represented at each of these three-day workshops. Following the workshops a report was written and submitted to the Minister of Environment.
