Praxis designed and presented a series of public open houses to collect input on the draft Liquid Waste Management Plan. The primary issues at this final stage of planning related to siting of a sewage treatment facility and costs for residents in both urban (serviced) and rural (unserviced) areas.
Each open house featured display panels, maps of the service areas, artist renderings of the sewage treatment facility, and maps showing three optional sites for the treatment facility. Praxis used written comment forms, “ScoreCards”, and flip charts to collect public input. The results of the qualitative and quantitative data were summarized in a report and a newsletter that was circulated to 5800 residents. The input provided clear direction to the Local Public and Technical Advisory Committees.
