In partnership with land-use planners Walker-Brown and Associates, Praxis engaged in the development of a new Municipal Development Plan (MDP) and land use bylaw for Canmore, which is located at the entry to Banff National Park. At the time of drafting the MDP, Canmore had a population of 10,000 with a projected build-out population of 28,000 by 2018. Population growth coupled with the development of a number of major resort hotels, golf courses and an expanded service sector placed numerous pressures on the community calling into question whether it could meet the goals of its existing growth management plan.
