Project Name | Parks Canada: Social Science Research Program Review |
---|---|
Client | Parks Canada |
Project Type | Research Studies |
Timeframe | 2000 |
Parks Canada retained Praxis to review the state of its social science research program. The purpose of the project was three-fold. First, Praxis examined Parks Canada’s approach to social science research and related research activities. Second, we assessed how these activities support and enhance decision-making within Parks Canada. Third, based on the review, Praxis prepared a three-year national social science strategic research plan.
Over 50 in-person and telephone interviews were used to gain a better understanding of how the employees viewed social science research within the organization. Interviews were also conducted with other organizations to identify how research results were applied to strategic decision-making processes. Praxis also conducted a literature review of how research results were integrated with decision-making processes. The interview data and literature review provided the basis for the final report including recommendations. Praxis presented the findings to Parks Canada representatives and key stakeholders at a one-day workshop.
